    Engine Issue

Post  StickerGuy on Fri Mar 23, 2012 6:32 pm

Ive been around engines all my life, but usually big V8s, but im not real sure whats going on here.
    My problem:
Losing oil out rear, around pully. Also if I leave oil cap off, while at idle, oil will jump out all over passenger rear fender.
This usually means pressure build up from piston ring bypass, but all cylinders are 125-130 PSI compression.
Spark plugs clean with no oil residue.
    No other oil leaks.
    Oil slinger installed during build.
Vent tube connected to air filter.

    Help!! banghead

Does your oil smell like gas?

if it is over full on oil (from adding to much or gas like terry suggested), or ring blowby, those are the 2 most common causes. blowby will not cause much of a compression drop alot of the time. another cause is a crack in the piston under the second ring land, or head problem bad valve guilds or crack in valve guild area (2nd not very common)

Thought about this last night.... Check your oil pressure relief & control valves. Maybe stuck?
