 What is that squallin' noise?

My 1970 Beetle is making a squallin' noise that appears to be coming from behind the dash. Usually happens when I'm driving 60+ mph....once I slow down it stops. Any ideas?

It's the speedo, remove the cable from the back of it. The cylinder the end of the cable slids into that turns is most likely the noise maker. (was on a bug I had). spray gut a little wd40 on it, a little down into the cable wont hurt either. Replace and take it for a spin.
