 Roof rack information?

I bought a roof rack for my bug today I just had to have it. The previous owners son said he thinks the roof rack was on his dads first vw in the 50's. (It was found at an estate sale)

I got it for more than half the price of a new one. Does anyone know anything about these things? I think it may be worth way more than what I paid for it..... Ive seen some old ones go for $500 on samba..... and then others for 150...... whats the difference?

I wish I could give you an answer, I'm going to need one for my bug once I get it on the road. I may just build one for what I will need.

You got a good score, price doesn't matter if your happy with it.
