Hi All -

I am reaching out to see if anyone has a recommendation for a place to do automatic transmission repair in the McKinney/Allen area or nearby.

My daughter's 1995 Buick Century (only 68K) developed a bad new years hangover yesterday. It made a noise while she was driving and lost power, now it only makes a grinding noise in reverse, seems to shift into drive (or 1st anyway) and has bubbles on the dip stick (but the fluid level seems fine). Its on the side of the road and I am going to get it towed somewhere.

I haven't had any transmission work done locally so was curious if anybody had a recommedation on a place that would "value priced" for a repair - the repair will be more than the value of the car.

Suggestions welcomed!

Thanks,
John

That happen to my suburban last summer. Think they said it was a clutch assembly. Sounds like all heck is coming apart.

I don't know any place around you.

The guy in Greenville, TX that does my domestic machine work took care of mine. He had a warrantied it for a year unlimited miles for $1300.00

Broken sun (?) gear, causing other issues after it broke. $1800 to fix but with warranty on repair.

Cheaper than replacing the car since it only has 69K, but Ouch!

Well, looking forward to a happier new year than Jan has started off.....
