| Thinking of getting my Thing some seat covers. Atleast I'm goona drop the hint to wife and kids. Gotta a birthday coming up next month. Anyone have a prefered place to get VW seat covers. Been seeing around $190 for set,not including pads and misc. Are Thing low backs the same as bug/ghia low backs. Can they be recovered by a novice??? |

| I wish you luck with the hints. Those don't work at my place.
I don't know of a place I've used that reasonable, so I'm considering doing my bay seats myself. They are leather, but I think vinyl will do. I have a sewing machine and it would give me something to do when it's cold. • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • Cell # 903.456.0192

| Greetings, I have had good luck with TMI covers. I have probably redone 25 or more interiors with TMI's stuff. The ones I did 10yrs ago still look really good & show little wear. Their customer service has been good as well. I have not done any things so you would need to see what they have. http://www.tmiproducts.com/classicrest.html Custom made at a good shop is likely the best quality but will also put the biggest whole in you wallet. Be well |

| One thing that has saved me a lot of time getting the seams to line up & the cover to sit on the pad correctly are trash bags.
Once the pad is in place & you are ready to install the cover, take a trash bag & slip it over the padded seat & frame. Then slide the cover over the seat frame, pad & bag. You can move the cover around & adjust the seams to where you want them. When it's where you want it, just reach under the cover & rip the trash bag off the pad while holding the cover in place. (sometimes I will slit the top of the trash bags so they are easier to remove) Sounds a little odd but works. Have fun. |
