Thanks - it looks better in pics than in person, but I'm happy with it so far as my first foray into this kinda thing.

that looks real good Cory, is the pan metal or glass? I'm gonna assume it's metal since you were talking about ballpeen hammer

Looks good brother. I like the look of the smooth pans, but aren't the ribs in the metal pan for strength?? I heard that somewhere. I think it was on the tv show trucks a couple years ago.

I'm sure the ribs are indeed there for strength, but remember this pan is 14 1/2 inches shorter than a bug. It seems plenty strong, and I'm going to have crossbeams at the point I mount the seats.

That is some damn good work you have done Cory. I have always wanted a glass buggy. And I have seen a couple Billy has painted and stuff and it makes the itch for one worse.

Thanks - I'm looking forward to something fun to zip around town in. I thought a buggy might be a little easier project to cut my teeth on than an actual car.

Re: A Few Build Pics
Yep - put the motor on, and fired it up to prove to the Mrs. that it was running, then tore it down to clean and paint.
And remember you told me to be careful with the exhaust studs? They all turned really easy, even got the ones off the heat risers really easy. The last stud turned as easy as the rest, and broke right off. I've got about a quarter of an inch sticking out, so I'm going to grease it up good for a while and try my luck with a vise grip. If that doesn't work, I suppose I try an extractor?

Re: A Few Build Pics
no, do not use the vice grips, either put a nut on it and weld the nut to the stud or drill it and retap the hole.

My new exhaust should be arriving today. Are new studs easy to come by assuming I can get this broken stud rectified?

Looking good.
Tight is an understatement... May have to do duel carbs.
And it all still fits at this point. I don't have the carb on yet, I have a low profile air cleaner, but its going to be real tight if it fits at all

Buggy Motor
Thats a great job on the cleanup of the old motor! Its gives it a whole new perspective.
I'm thinking about painting the tin also but I need some pointers since I've never done it before.
I may have the same clearance issue on mine so I guess I'll watch and learn.
I've been trying to squeeze in some work time on my progress and managed to get a few things done tonight. Hope to have pics up this weekend.

Its certainly been a learning experience, but with all the resources available on the net these days, I've been able to keep making progress. Been kinda slow lately, too many honeydoos

Re: A Few Build Pics
I don't think you need to go much lower in the front, in fact if you put the snubbers in on the beam that will bring you down some and pull a few of the spring plates out of both beams and i will be where you need it to be.

Re: A Few Build Pics
I guess thats worth a shot. Have you got snubbers on hand?
What else would I need to replace if I pull it all apart?
May have to pull the beam and bring it out and have you walk me through it.
